Government Spokesperson reveals PM’s plan to appoint Finance Minister and relevant bodies to organise activities in an attempt to create true access on various government funds to the public (14/8/2012)

Today at 13hr10 at Press Conference Room, Thai Government House, Government Spokesperson Ms. Sansanee Nakpong made a public announcement following the Cabinet meeting chaired by PM Yingluck Shinawatra. Ms. Sansanee said that following the Cabinet’s resolution on 17 July 2012, the government has appointed Finance Ministry to draw together all details pertaining to the government funds and work hand in hand with Interior Ministry in propagating content of the funds to the public. This was part of the government’s effort in trying to disseminate the information so the public is aware of the sources and able to approach those funds.


 In this connection, Deputy Prime Minister Kittiratt Na-Ranong and Finance Minister have appointed Mr. Tanusak Lekuthai, Deputy Minister of Finance, to continue with the implementation. In particular, there will be two major events taking place this month. The ‘Money Expo 2012’ to be held on 18 August 2012 will take place in Nakornratchasima where the funds detail will be presented including Women Development fund, Village and Community Development fund, SML fund, Health Security fund among others. In addition, the responsible ministers for each of the funds will attend the event and delineate further about each funding scheme. This will include Education Minister in “Self-made” fund, PM’s Office Minister in Women Development fund, Public Health Minister in Health Security fund, Deputy PM Kittiratt Na-Ranong in SML fund, among others.

Another activity to be held in the same month (25-26 August) will incorporate a number of exhibitions about each of the aforementioned government funds in an attempt to allow the public to have an access and learn in-depth about funds based on their need and interest. This activity will be held in all the provinces of Thailand whereby the governor of each province will preside over the opening alongside Provincial Treasury who will act as a secretary during the event.
