UN Women praises the Thai government and offers full support for the Women Fund (8/8/2012)

PM’s Office Minister Nalinee Taveesin welcomed Deputy Regional Director, Asia Pacific Regional Centre and UN Women Mr.Ramanathan Balakrishnan to discuss on the cooperation on the Women Fund


On August 8, 2012 at 11.00am at the PM’s Office Minister Office, the Government House, PM’s Office Minister Nalinee Taveesin welcomed Deputy Regional Director, Asia Pacific Regional Centre and UN Women Mr.Ramanathan Balakrishnan to discuss on the cooperation on the Women Fund.

PM’s Office Minister stated that the Women Fund is one of the government’s important policies to support and uplift the capability of Thai women. The government has listened to the feedback from Thai people around the country, opened for membership application, selected district and provincial committee as well as transferred the money to each fund. The project received warm support by various agencies especially private sector such as Better Way (Thailand) the producer of Mistine cosmetics brand who helped support by inviting Mistine Lady, the personal distributor of Mistine product, to apply to the fund. Coca-Cola (Thailand) will also take part in developing Thai women’s capabilities in various aspects.

Mr.Ramanathan Balakrishnan praised the Thai government on founding the Women Fund. Thailand is the first country in the world with this concept showing that Thailand gives precedence to women. With its extensive experience and expertise in developing women, UN Women is ready to support the Thai government is every aspect. This year UN Women’s development agenda will focus on women. The agency will invite women in Asia Pacific including PM’s office Minister Nalinee Taveesin to exchange opinions in the international seminar which will be held in Bangkok late this year.

For the cooperation between the Thai government and UN women, PM’s Office Minister assigned the women fund office to further coordinate with the UN women.
