1. Support provided to the public affected by heightened cost of living The Ministry of Industry organized OUTLET festival for the public under the name “Products from the factory to alleviate the effect of higher cost of living” on 2-4 June 2012 at the Ministry of Industry by cooperating directly with the manufacturers. The goods were sold at factory price to help support the public. The festival was successful with more than 28,380 participants (from the goal of 25,000), 471 shops and the total sales of THB 19,869,213. Categories of goods with the highest sales are 1. Food and beverage (30%) 2. Household equipments (28%) 3. Clothe (22%) 4. Electrical appliances and electronics (12%) and vehicles and others (8%). The participants gave feedback that prices of necessary goods in the festival such as sugar, rice, egg, cooking oil, instant food and electrical appliances were lower than those of the market. 2. Remedial measures for 7 industrial estates in Ayudhaya and Prathumthani that were affected by flood Currently 658 factories have resumed the operation accounting for 78.43% of the total of 839 factories. Renovation of large factories and SMEs outside industrial estates that were affected by flood Currently, 7,781 or 98.61% of large factories and SMEs have resumed operation (15 June 2012 information) 4. Project to support flood affected industrial sector (15 June 2012 information) 4.1 Industrial shelter center Ministry of Industry was allocated THB 47.4 million budget to set up temporary office and factory for flood affected SMEs and companies. This temporary shelter will be used for production, equipment storage and fixing. The venue is at the shelter headquarters at Rong Kluea market, Ayudhaya. Currently, 50% of the project has been completed at 17.93% of total budget and participants of 134 from the goal of 100 (71 are industrial companies and 63 are SMEs) with the total area of 21,640 sq.m. 4.2 Safety, environment and industrial waste management project in flood affected area The Ministry of Industry was allocate THB 22 million budget to support flood affected companies both inside and outside industrial estates by providing engineers to review safety, environment and industrial waste management processes. This project aims to return the factory operation and community safety to normal state. Currently, 80% of the project has been completed at 24.01% of total budget. 2,060 factories have been reviewed from the target of 2,000 (103%) 4.3 Water quality, soil quality and contamination testing both inside and outside industrial estates The Ministry of Industry was allocated THB 25 million budget to test water quality, soil quality and contamination both inside and outside industrial estates in 14 provinces affected by flood. Currently, 80% of the project has been completed at 23.16% of total budget. 1,294 samples have been tested out of the total of 1,302 samples (99.39%) 4.4 Vocational training center for flood victims The Ministry of Industry was allocated THB 51.02 million budget. The project is now in planning process. 4.5 Repair center for units under the Ministry of Industry that are affected by flood The Ministry of Industry was allocated THB 1.7697 million budget. Currently, 70% of the project has been completed and the buildings are under renovation. 4.6 Environment quality management in flood affected area project The Ministry of Industry was allocated THB 17.3768 million budget. The project is now in procurement process to analyze, transport and destroy chemical waste. 4.7 Restoring Thailand’s image project Ministry of Industry was allocated THB 411.6177 million budget. 6% of the project is now completed at 7.81% of total budget. The project aims to restore Thailand’s image by publicizing in both domestic and international media 7 times and organizing 3 investment events in Japan, South Korea and China. 4.8 Industrial clinic to restore flood affected SMEs Ministry of Industry was allocated THB 148 million budget. Currently, 45% of the project has been completed at 20.59% of total budget. The project helps analyze, review and find the cause of the problems and total cost of operation stoppage for 753 companies and re-engineer business process for 198 companies. |
