PM orders every ministry to monitor impact from Eurozone debt crisis. (26/6/2012)

Government Spokesperson revealed that the Prime Minister orders every ministry to monitor the impact from Eurozone debt crisis so that Thailand will be well-prepared for any prospective effect.


Today (June 26, 2012) at 14.00, at media center, the Government House; after the cabinet meeting chaired by Ms. Yingluck Shinawatra, the Prime Minister, Ms. Sansanee Nachpong, Government Spokesperson revealed the cabinet resolution. Gist as follows:

Government Spokesperson stated that the Prime Minister had informed the cabinet that the Prime Minister’s Office and Bureau of the Royal Household co-hosts a celebration for HM the Queen’s 80th Birthday on August 12, 2012. There have been a number of activities marking the Queen’s birthday. The Prime Minster invited several sectors to integrate celebration activities with the Prime Minister’s Office. In the morning, there was Mother of the Land Village Fund activity for HM the Queen’s 80th Birthday aiming at anti-narcotics. The Prime Minster also invited private sector to participate in the celebration for HM the Queen’s 80th Birthday on August 12, 2012.

In addition, the Prime Minister assigned every ministry to monitor the impact both direct and indirect ones from Eurozone debt crisis caused by 5 countries, and assigned involved agencies to propose solutions to the prospective impact on Thailand so that the problem can be immediately responded.

At the same time, the Prime Minister expressed her concern over flood crisis since the rainy season is about to come. Therefore, she accelerated every sector, especially Strategic Committee for Water Resources Management to work on the issue in overview, and Single Command Center located in the Prime Minister’s Office to collect information for outcome analysis. For a long-term plan proposed by Strategic Committee for Water Resources Management, the Prime Minister accelerated its implementation. Moreover, the Prime Minister mentioned information collection undertaken by several sectors that; after the collection, the information would be sent to PMOC website in order to prevent and address the flood crisis. The Prime Minister accelerated every involved sector to work on canal issue, particularly canal trespass. She recommended an exact deadline namely within 2 months for the canal trespass solution, and assigned Ministry of Social Development and Human Security to provide new shelters for people who have to relocate as a result of trespass.

Concerning the budget worth 3.5 billion Baht for flood prevention and solution projects, the Prime Minister accelerated Minister of Science and Technology to invite foreigners and Thais to propose water management projects. Minister of Science and Technology informed the meeting that everything will be completed by next week and the invitation cards will definitely be sent to whoever wishing to propose the flood prevention and solution plans. The Prime Minister also informed every involved sector to launch public relations campaigns in order to enhance people’s understanding and confidence towards the governments’ work.
