Government Spokesperson suggests three alternatives in Thailand-Cambodia dispute (25/7/2008)
A Government Spokesperson says holding talks between Thailand and Cambodia is the best alternative and suggested three alternatives to resolve the issues.

Police Lieutenant General Wichianchot Sukchokrat gave an interview related to the 4.6 kilometre overlapping area of Preah Vihear at the border between Thailand-Cambodia, Sri Saket province. He said that holding talks between Thailand and Cambodia is the best alternative but that this issue will take time to resolve. The government doesn’t agree with Cambodia regarding the complaint they filed with the United Nations to take care of the situation. If there is a third party involved it will make the situation more complicated. Sometimes mediators only want to promote themselves therefore this issue shouldn’t involve a third party.

The Government Spokesperson suggested three alternatives for the situation including: 1) not allowing the people to live in the 4.6 km overlapping area 2) joint investment between Thailand and Cambodia to improve the area to become a tourist attraction by involving Thai and Cambodian people 3) holding talks to divide the 4.6 km overlapping area by setting clear border points
